A bulletproof vest worn by rapper Ye at auction

(ETX Daily Up) – Ye cleans his closets. Christie’s will soon be offering a bulletproof vest that belonged to the American rapper previously known as Kanye West for sale. This collector’s item is estimated between 20,000 and 30,000 dollars.

The provocative artist wore this bulletproof vest on August 5, during one of the evenings of listening to his last and tenth album, “DONDA”. According to the New York Times, more than 40,000 Ye fans gathered at the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta to check out some of the 27 tracks on the record, named after her mother who passed away in 2007.

Christie’s attests that this jacket reflects Ye’s military lifestyle, as “he’s ready to take the stage and risk his life for his music and his art.” The rapper would have written the phrase “My body different” (“my body different”, in French) on the back of the vest, at the end of his performance on stage.

The piece is being auctioned off as part of the “Handbags x HYPE: The Luxury Remix” virtual sale, which runs until December 9 on the auction house’s website. It is estimated between 20,000 and 30,000 dollars (between 17,820 and 26,730 euros).

If Christie’s did not disclose the provenance of this bulletproof vest, a similar item of clothing would have been sold in August for $ 20,000 (approximately 17,820 euros) on the Justin Reed sales platform. Ye allegedly gave it to one of the bodyguards present during the “DONDA” listening party in Atlanta, according to GQ magazine.

Other pieces related to the American rapper are also offered for auction during Christie’s “Handbags x HYPE: The Luxury Remix” sale. Among them, a collection of 57 pairs of Yeezy 350s sneakers, made in collaboration with the adidas brand. It is estimated between 30,000 and 50,000 dollars (between 26,730 and 44,550 euros).
