ABBA’s pop genius in a spinning book

Not content with having sold 400 million albums, ABBA put the cover back at the end of 2021 with the very dispensable “Voyage”, which put an end to a “parenthesis” of 40 years … and which nevertheless sold to 100,000 copies in France. The opportunity to take back to the origins (that is to say from 1964) the history of this group whose pop genius remains unmatched, which allows the solid work of Jean-Marie Potiez. The author tells about everything that happened before the triumph of the quartet; namely various experiences each on their own then as a duo with regard to Bj√∂rn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. Until the “Waterloo” bomb, launched in 1974 thanks to Eurovision. “Mamma Mia” in 1975 followed, the absolute album, “Arrival” in 1976, bringing together “When I kissed the teacher”, “Dancing Queen”, “Knowing me, knowing you” and “Money, money, money” and more a “Super herder” from 1980 including the sublime “The winner takes it all”. Very illustrated, the book is also valid for the interviews that Jean-Marie Potiez has gathered over the years, trying to understand the incredible alchemy that has led to such hits.
