Louis, 28, grew up in Tarbes and has been enthroned for a month in the living room of many Bigourdans who follow his career in Don’t forget the words on France 2. With 42 victories, he pocketed more than €225,000 and won his place among the show’s Masters. Interview with this exceptional maestro of simplicity and authenticity.
Louis, how crazy is this adventure for you, the child of Tarbes?
Honestly, that was unachievable for me. Everything is linked so quickly filming, emissions. Even looking at them, I don’t understand everything. I’m surprised to see what I’m doing. I never thought I’d achieve this, even though I worked a lot, that everything would line up like this… I find it hard to put words to it.

PORTRAIT. “Don’t forget the lyrics”: gamer, speech therapy graduate… Who is Louis, the Tarbais maestro of the show?
More than forty shows, isn’t that exhausting?
I am the first surprised to hold this fatigue. I didn’t know how I was going to cash in. I stay focused. Sometimes we concentrate a lot of programs in one afternoon and we start again the next day. There is fatigue for us candidates, even if we end up losing our place. Nagui and the musicians chain them all the time…
Are you able to take advantage of it?
For me, this adventure is already completely successful. I am fully satisfied. I’m happy to be where I am. It is an extraordinary experience. Potentially, everything can stop at each show. I manage to take pleasure in each duet, each song. Not many of us have remained masters for more than forty shows. There, I begin to know the people around us well. As it is ephemeral, I seize every moment.
I have the impression that everyone follows me in 65. Even people I had lost sight of for a long time have reconnected. I who am super attached to Bigorre, it makes me happy to represent the Hautes-Pyrénées, even if it’s just a game show…
With the assurance of being among the Masters, the crème de la crème of maestros…
To be among the top 32 was not a goal in itself, but not 100% impossible either. I took it step by step. We don’t want it to end. Especially before managing to join these Masters. Because without that, we know that the adventure will be over for life. The only way to come back to it, to taste it again, is the Masters. The closer I got to it, the more I thought about it. Today I am 17th among almost a thousand maestros. Even when I lose, I know I will come back here…
Your journey is followed in Tarbes by your relatives and others…
My parents watch everything and record the shows. In the Hautes-Pyrénées, since your first article (in our February 3 edition) there has been a big impact. I have the impression that everyone is following me in the 65. Even people I had lost sight of for a long time have reconnected. There is a big craze that I didn’t expect. Without jealousy, people are just happy to see someone they know on TV and happy to share this adventure with me. I who am super attached to Bigorre, it makes me happy to represent the Hautes-Pyrénées, even if it’s just a game show…
And this growing kitty also counts…
These €226,000 won will change my life. If only for the future home. I feel like I’m adding coins to the house as the prize pool increases (laughs). Learning French songs allowed me to feel the possibility of acquiring this house, it’s crazy! Afterwards, once again, everything is fragile and can stop. But that sum is more than anything I could have imagined in my head…
