Closer to the return of one of the series that triumphed in 2021: This is season 2

The shooting of the second installment of ‘Young Highnesses’, the Swedish ‘teen’ series that captivated Netflix subscribers with the love story of Wilhelm and Simon, has already finished.

If you are one of the many who were captivated by the tender love story between Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) and Simon (Omar Rudberg) in the first season of the Swedish Netflix original series Young Highnesses, you will be pleased to know that the second installment of the ‘teen’ fiction is very close. No, the streaming platform has not announced a release date, but it has confirmed that the filming of the new episodes has officially ended.

When can we see season 2 of Young Highnesses? It is early to say, but with the filming already completed and only with the post-production process ahead, perhaps the calculations that predicted the return of the Swedish series before the end of 2022 can be fulfilled.

The good news has been shared by Netflix on its official Twitter account, where it has taken the opportunity to publish two photos from the last day on set, which in turn had been shared by Edvin Ryding and Omar Rudberg, the undisputed protagonists of the story, in their respective Instagram stories. In both images, taken from outside the school, we can see the already iconic Hillerska, but also many hearts.

Although season 2 of Young Highnesses was confirmed in September 2021, not long after the debut of the first on the platform, filming could not begin until several months later, specifically in February 2022. However, given the speed with which the end of production, everything seems to indicate that it has been developed without incident and that the gears are running at full throttle that we keep crossing our fingers for its release in 2022.

Starring Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm, a rebellious royal who is sent to the prestigious Hillerska Preparatory School to straighten his path, the first season of the series dealt with his sexual awakening. Over there fell madly in love with a classmate, Simon (Rudberg), who luckily reciprocated. However, the couple’s love story hit a clear bump in the road when an unexpected accident made Wilhelm overnight the first in line to the throne. A responsibility that he does not want but he has to assume and that jeopardizes his permanence in Hillerska, where he has made new friends and is beginning to discover himself, and his relationship with Simon.

Too many details about the new installment have not yet been advanced, but we can be sure that Wilhelm and Simon’s relationship will be at the center of season 2 of Young Highnesses. We can count on the boys reconciling, but not on their secret being a secret for long.

Will Wilhelm confront his family? And if so, will Simon be able to withstand the scrutiny that comes with being involved with the royal family? Is it possible that the couple considers that, with so many problems, theirs is no longer worth it?

Likewise, the dynamics of Wilhelm as heir also promise to be an important part of the new episodes, while the second season will have to address what the Prince will do now that he knows that the one who leaked the sex tape was August.

As for who is coming back and who isn’t, the returns of Edvin Ryding and Omar Rudberg are expected as Wilhelm and Simon, of course, but also Malte GÃ¥rdinger (August), Frida Argento as Sara, Nikita Uggla (Felice), Pernilla August (Queen Kristina of Sweden), Nathalie Varli (Madison) and Carmen Gloria Pérez (Linda), while Ivar Forsling does not return as Prince Erik.
