‘Cobra Kai’: Daniel’s past with Terry Silver, explained, what does the return of the villain mean?

Season 4 of the series brings back the villain of ‘Karate Kid III. The final challenge ‘. The new episodes premiere on Netflix on December 31.

2021 is going to end with a highly anticipated premiere. Season 4 of Cobra Kai will be released on Netflix on December 31st and will do so with the return of a mythical character from the franchise Karate Kid. As has already been announced, Ian Thomas Griffith will once again get into the shoes of Terry Silver and everything seems to indicate that he will team up with Kreese (Martin Kove) to finish off Johnny (William Zabka) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio).

The arrival of the main villain of Karate Kid III it supposes the opening of old wounds. We have to look into the film saga to understand what the return of Silver means for Daniel. Between them there is a whole story of confrontation that will come to light again in the new episodes. What happened between the fearsome Terry Silver and our beloved protagonist?

The third installment of the original trilogy introduced him as an old friend of Kreese’s who joined the team to exact revenge after the humiliation suffered by Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). His master plan, built on his incredible financial resources, was destined to destroy Daniel and Mr. Miyagi on an emotional level. Silver knew that where he could do the most damage to them was attacking their relationship and thus they would also weaken physically.

One of the key elements in his master plan was the addition of Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), who intimidated Daniel into defending his title in the 1985 tournament. The young man felt insecure, prompting him to seek help and Silver became his new sensei. He tortured Daniel physically and emotionally and tried to corrupt him. Eventually, Daniel managed to escape his influence and defeated Barnes.

Silver wanted to humiliate Daniel and make Cobra Kai regain his prestige, but he couldn’t. Where it did not fail was to cause emotional damage to the protagonist, who surely needed some time to recover from its aftermath. Silver is one of the worst villains in the series and his incorporation into the series is going to give a lot to talk about. Although it remains to be seen if he is still the cruel and ruthless person that he was before.

‘Cobra Kai’: Daniel and Sam LaRusso’s confrontation, a danger from season 4 that would break our hearts

Theories surrounding his return are the order of the day. As collected ScreenRant, Silver could have devised a similar plan to defeat his old enemy. This time, the relationship that could jeopardize is that of Daniel with his daughter Samantha LaRusso. It could destabilize both of them and achieve that reputation that Cobra Kai has pursued for years. The young woman has a strong character and can feel limited, so Silver could find an easy way to confront her with her father.

Season 4 of Cobra Kai premieres in full on Netflix next December 31st. In the new episodes, Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso have left their enmity behind to become allies. Between crane and crane -posure we saw in one of the promotional images-, they teach their students and try to find balance as leaders. This unexpected team worries their rivals, of course, they want to finish them off. The key will be in the Miyagi Do.
