Figeac. Olivier Pons released his latest album, “Poème”

For his third album, Olivier Pons, violinist from Figeac, called on a long-time friend, the Finnish pianist Folke Gräsbeck. The accomplice duo know each other by heart for having played together many times, in particular on the stage of the Rencontres musicales de Figeac festival, of which Olivier Pons is the artistic director.

“We must have done a hundred concerts together. The Figeac audience knows Folke well, who has come ten times in 24 years. We have real connivance and affection for all the songs on this album” confides Olivier Pons, delighted to defend this project which took more than a year to see the light of day. “We recorded in Finland during the summer of 2020 which was a desperately quiet summer… for now there is no album release tour planned although it feels like everything is starting to restart.” On the menu of “Poème”, works by Sibelius, Chausson, Prokofiev, Merikanto, Tchaikovsky, Pugnani Kreisler carefully chosen and interpreted by Olivier Pons. “I spent more time with these works than with my best friends. I love them as much. They are works that we have worked on, played on, reworked, which have matured over the years, which have had the experience of ‘to be shared with the public “, confides the artist, always enthusiastic to share his passion.

The album “Poème” whose main partner is the Finnish national radio station and the Fuga label is on sale on the internet, on the festival’s online store Les Rencontres musicales de Figeac as well as on Amazon. From October 15, it will be available on music platforms.
