British actor Julian Sands has been identified as the hiker reported missing in California (USA) who has been missing since Friday, December 13, according to CNN. The 65-year-old actor, known in particular for his role in the film Chambre avec vue, has not given any news to his relatives since, as indicated by the American media.
Julian Sands had gone hiking in the Mount Baldy region, located in southern California near Los Angeles. This part of the American territory has been plagued by several particularly violent climatic phenomena for several weeks. Storms and very heavy rains have already killed at least 19 people.
Research made difficult by the weather
The searches launched on Saturday January 14 by the police are complicated by these extreme weather conditions. “Due to severe weather and a threat of an avalanche, rescuers had to suspend their search efforts,” the police spokeswoman told CNN. “Authorities continue to use drones to search for him but are limited by other resources due to weather conditions.”
Actor Julian Sands rose to prominence in 1986 with his role in the British film Room with a View by James Ivory. He also appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Thirteen and in a large number of successful American series such as Smallville, 24 Hours Chrono or Les Reines de Manhattan. More recently, he starred in the movie The Ghosts of Monday in 2022.
