‘How I Met Your Father’: Release date, new group of friends, connections, images and everything we know about the ‘spin-off’

It will star Hilary Duff and repeats the structure of ‘How I Met Your Mother’. Are you destined to repeat your success?

We’ve been talking about a How I Met Your Mother ‘spin-off’ with a woman as heir to Ted Mosby’s (Josh Radnor) witness almost since before the famous ‘sitcom’ came to an end, but the project has been done wait enough. In fact, it has been waiting so long that in the end it will be a Hulu series starring Hilary Duff and not the Fox fiction with Greta Gerwig as the protagonist that had been originally devised. Nor will the creators of the original series, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, take charge of the new story, but Isaac aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, both producers of This Is Us and With love, Victor. Nevertheless the ‘showrunners’ of the unforgettable comedy are still linked to the project as executive producers.

A) Yes, With the idea on the table since 2014, it was not until 2021 that we finally received the news: There would be a ‘spin-off’ of how I Met Your Mother, would have by title How I Met Your Father (Greta Gerwig’s was called How I Met Your Dad) and its protagonist would be the charismatic Hilary Duff.

Unforgettable for his role as Lizzie McGuire, the actress will be in charge of getting into the skin of Sophie, who will be telling her son the story of how he met his father and all the anecdotes and adventures he starred in along the way, along with an inseparable group of friends.

Closer and closer to materializing, the latest big news for the series is that it already has a release date. Take note below of everything we know about How I Met Your Father:

As has been announced, the successor to How I Met Your Mother will debut on Hulu, its original channel on the other side of the pond, on January 18 with the broadcast of its first two episodes. The rest of the season, which consists of 10 episodes, will be broadcast on a weekly basis.

The news has been announced by the cast of the series – Hilary Duff, Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran and Suraj Sharma – through a fun video in which they borrow an unforgettable phrase from Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) .

At the moment there is no chain or platform linked in Spain, but it is very likely that in the case of Hulu we can see it in our country by the hand of Disney +.

While waiting for a first official trailer in which we can see the new cast in action, we have already seen a first image of the protagonists.

The photograph was published by Hulu in November and in it we can see the cast with Hillary Duff in the middle.

Again narrated from the future, a format that imitates its predecessor, the series will be set in the year 2021, our present. Thus, the social context in which the characters move is absolutely recognizable and we will see in it how the protagonists deal with the world of romantic relationships through dating apps and the unlimited options they offer us.

Thus, although the structure is the same as that of the original series, the new fiction is absolutely renewed and adapted to our days. Likewise, the story will take place again on the streets of New York, although it was shot in a studio in Los Angeles.

With a more diverse cast -as you can see in the photograph above-, those in charge of interpreting The inseparable friends of the protagonist will be mainly five:

Take note because, if the series repeats the success of its predecessor, you will not stop hearing their names: Chris Lowell as Jesse, Francia Raisa as Valentina, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran as Ellen and Suraj Sharma as Sid.

If any of them is the father, it will be what we have to discover, but, for now, we only know what Duff advanced in an interview with SiriusXM: “There are many opportunities for love stories with this series because it is Sophie and three boys, so there is going to be that constant question of: ‘Who is father ‘? And we went through all that youthful experience of Sophie, finding love through dating as it is today.

Another interesting detail that will delight fans of the original series is that, although it will be independent, we can expect connections, winks and even cameos from the cast of the series that they portrayed Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan y Jason Segel.

I don’t want to say too much and the script is going to change a bit. But it has a connection [con ‘Cómo conocí a vuestra madre’] and I hope we get some fun appearances from the original cast

This is how Duff herself commented in the aforementioned interview in which she also promised “great characters.”
