In which Marvel movie will we see Kit Harington as the Black Knight after ‘Eternals’?

The actor plays Dane Whitman in the latest installment of Phase 4 of the franchise. But … when will we see his transformation into the superhero owner of the Ebon Blade?

Kit Harington is one of the new signings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, known for giving life to Jon Nieve on Game of Thrones, gets under the skin of Dane Whitman on the Phase 4 of the franchise. His debut has taken place in Eternals, the latest installment of the study chaired by Kevin Feige. In this film, directed by Chloé Zhao, the character of Harington does not play a very important role, but he is the protagonist of the second post-credit scene. In it his potential in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is anticipated.

In the comics, Dane Whitman becomes Black knight, a superhero whose powers come from the Ebony Sword. This contraption was created by the magician Marline and used by Sir Percy de Scandia, Whitman’s ancestor. The sword, however, has a curse: drives its owner to the brink of madness and makes him violent and bloodthirsty. Hence, Harington’s character hesitates to touch her or not while Eric Brooks/Blade (Mahershala Ali) asks him if he’s ready or not.

Based on this scene, in which installment of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could we see Dane Whitman turned into the Black Knight? Although the clearest options are Blade and a possible sequel to Eternals, other titles could also include its appearance.

‘Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness’

Although Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness, the sequel to Doctor Strange (Doctor Extraño), Directed by Sam Raimi, it does not look like a story about knights and witches, there could be a connection between Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dane Whitman. What could unite them? The Ebon Sword.

The Black Knight and the curse of the Ebon Blade. So are the powers of the character of Kit Harington in ‘Eternals’

Doctor Strange is a sorcerer and … who is the best known wizard of all time? Merlin, the creator of the Ebon Blade. Also, this contraption is a relic, just like the Cloak of Levitation and Doctor Strange (Doctor Extraño) I was going to introduce her to the MCU. This is how the film’s props boss told it Barry Gibbs: “I was going to go with a book called Lexicon of Relics, but the ebony sword was dropped from the script. I don’t really know why.”.

Ultimately, magic is one of the elements that are part of the mythology of the Black Knight and, in that, Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) – who will also appear in the sequel – are more than served.

‘Moon Knight’

In Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe we also have to take into account the Disney + series. Of the next fictions that Marvel Studios will premiere on the streaming platform, one of the ones that can best fit with Dane Whitman is the one starring another gentleman: Moon Knight.

Marc Spector it is the role of Oscar Isaac in fiction. In the comics, the Egyptian moon god Khonshu offered him a second chance when he was on the verge of death. In return, Spector had to be his avatar on Earth. The protagonist suffers a Dissociative identity disorder and within it inhabit multiple identities. Spector’s powers increase depending on the phases of the moon.

‘Eternals’: Children of Midnight, the superhero team that could explain the connection of the second post-credit scene

How could Dane Whitman fit in with Marc Spector? Although it seems unlikely to see Harington in Moon Knight, the truth is that both could be part of Children of Midnight, a group of supernatural superheroes from the Marvel comics. Furthermore, their powers come from very ancient entities and relics and these are not “healthy” for their respective owners.

One of the clearest options is Blade. The solo film about the vampire hunter will be directed by Bassam Tariq and starring Mahershala Ali. It is the voice of the latter that asks him, in the second post-credit scene of Eternals, to Whitman whether or not he is ready to raise the Ebony Sword.

Kit Harington joined ‘Eternals’ without knowing the future of her character in Marvel: “Whether or not they have plans, they don’t tell me”

On the other hand, Nate Moore, producer of Eternals, affirmed that there is a connection between both characters: “The characteristics of the Ebon Sword are not very different to certain degrees of vampirism”.

‘Eternals 2’

That Whitman decided to consider playing the Ebon Sword has to do with Sersi (Gemma Chan). The Eternal has been trapped by the Celestial Arishem and Harington’s character knows that the only way he can try to save her is to become a Black Knight.

From Spider-Man to Doctor Strange. The protagonists of ‘Eternals’ choose the Marvel superhero they want to meet on screen

So a sequel to Eternals It has many of the ballots to be the movie that recovers Whitman and shows him transformed into the superhero.

Movie or series about ‘Black Knight’

Another option is for Marvel Studios to decide to give Whitman a place of honor in his Phase 4 with a solo movie or series about Black Knight.
