Interesting Hobbies That NFL Players Have When They Are Off The Field

The National Football League has a lot of players that are impactful every Sunday on the field. Just like any other professional athlete, they are more than just their job that we see them a part of for 17 weeks throughout the entire year. These players do not just sit at home and do absolutely nothing, and some players have some entertaining hobbies that they have so let’s talk about them here!

What they do off the field is important, but their performance on the field is crucial for their financial situations. Having the correct NFL picks helps our financial situation by making sure we know what is going on.

Von Miller (Chicken Farming)

When Von Miller is not tackling an opposing quarterback as one of the best pass rushers of this generation, he is running a chicken farm! That’s right, not exactly what you’d picture a force on the football field doing.

He currently is running a poultry farm with more than 40 chickens, and he even majored in poultry science when enrolled at Texas A&M and talked about his interest in this unusual hobby.

“‘I’m not even gonna lie, man, it started off by taking an easy class in college. My professor, Dr. Farnell, he wouldn’t let it be an easy class – you know how these electives can be, you just go in there and sleep through it. But he made it a point to make sure I knew my information. And then I learned about it and really enjoyed it.” He commented.

Something I enjoy is seeing the NFL expert picks and figuring out if they are going to be something that will help us make some money by looking at their predictions and determining if we should back them or not.

Justin Tucker (Opera Singer)

Justin Tucker is one of the best kickers that the National Football League has ever seen, but that does not mean it was his first love as in sixth grade, he began to find his love for music. He went to the University of Texas as a broadcast journalism major and decided that was not his passion and auditioned for the Butler School of Music and was accepted. He took singing lessons to help his bass-baritone voice and learned how to sing operatically.

He can actually sing in eight different languages (English, Russian, Czech, German, Spanish, Latin, Italian, and French) as well as other musical concepts. He has even been asked to perform by the New York Opera and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Jimmy Graham (Flying)

While this could be a bit of a stretch as he is not technically playing, tight end Jimmy Graham has not filed his papers for retirement and is still a free agent. One thing that he loves to do is take to the sky when not grounded, catching passes on the field.

He is a licensed pilot that loves to give back to others and would fly wounded warriors on off days and even started a foundation called “The Jimmy Graham Foundation” that focuses on giving children and veterans flights in his helicopter to enjoy the passion as much as he does.

He restored a Vietnam-era helicopter and typically uses that to fly around, so if you see an older helicopter roaming the skies, know that it could be an NFL tight end at the controls.

Conclusion

With hundreds of NFL players on an active roster per week, there are obviously some players that have interesting hobbies off of the field of play that we missed in this article. However, three of the more noteworthy names that you can think of in the National Football League in the last decade or so, it made sense to highlight these guys.

Are there any players that you can think of that have hobbies that are either unusual or something you would not think of right away? Do you think any of their hobbies would play into the NFL predictions for their games?
