Mazeres-sur-Salat. In September, the first Political Song Festival

The association “I say on stage!” co-organizes with the Rue de la Commune association the first edition of the Political Song Festival in Mazères-sur-Salat, on the site of the former Riz Lacroix factory. For two days from Friday 2 to Saturday 3 September, moments of songs, discussion and commitments will be offered. Why a celebration of political song? “This festival aims to be a meeting place between music and politics, between audiences and ideas but also a meeting between musical styles and various languages”, explain the members of the association. “Through political song, many of us have discovered the history of struggles, of resistance, not taught at school. Through the effect of standardization of song, we tend to smooth or “invisibilize” committed and to erase the link between music and politics.”

In the program

Rue de la Commune is a social memory collective formed around the 150th anniversary of the Paris Commune and the memory of laundresses. No less than twelve groups, artists will be present. Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m., camping, refreshments and homemade meals are planned. In addition to the two associations supporting the event, a team of volunteers is working to make this celebration a great success. There are never enough hands and brains and the organizers are actively looking for people who want to join the team, whether before or during the party.
