Sunday September 26 will see the closing day of the jazz festival, La Fabrique du Jazz, which has become a must in the Montalbanese cultural landscape.
The Fabrique de Jazz invited itself to the market and the streets of the city center on Saturday. The New Orleans “Bourbon Street” quintet strolled before landing at the Old College. The 3rd cycle students of the jazz department of the Conservatoire de Montauban, led for two years by Juhani Sinkkonen, a Finnish guitarist and composer teacher specializing in contemporary music and improvisation, performed their own arrangements. The faithful of the Saturday market were delighted with this interlude at Place Pénélope.
The day was dedicated to Michel Petrucciani with a jazz talk at the Maison du Crieur and a conference at the Jean-Sébastien Cambon theater. In the evening, the Laurent Coulondre Trio, Victoire du Jazz 2020, French record award from the Académie du Jazz, conquered the public. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of Michel Petrucciani, Laurent Coulondre released his 5th album “Michel on my Mind” paying tribute to one of the musicians who most marked his career as a jazzman.
The 3rd edition of the Fabrique de Jazz ends Sunday with:
- At 11 am – On the forecourt of the Olympe de Gouges theater: verbal and musical contest “Jazz versus Baroque” with the artistic team of the Nouveaux Romantiques and the Passions Baroques festival.
- At 5 p.m. – At the Olympe de Gouges Theater: the New Romantics. This dance concert explores the relationship between jazz, baroque and improvisation music. It brings together pianist and composer Édouard Ferlet (Victoire du Jazz 2020), harpsichordist Violaine Cochard, accordionist Sébastien Farge, dancer Pedro Pauwels and Emmanuelle Stäble (Lumière). This creation, co-produced with the Opéra de Limoges, has as its watchword the pleasure of playing and mixing.
