New Year’s concert in Foix: the magic worked with the orchestra

the essential
The New Year’s concert took place yesterday, from 4 p.m. in the Saint-Volusien church. A moment of successful sharing. What to start the year in the best way.

This 3rd New Year’s concert, after Varilhes and Tarascon-sur-Ariège, “Quand La Magie nous haunts”, given by the Orchester d’Harmonie de Varilhes-Foix, was once again a resounding success, this time here with the Fuxéens, in the heart of an unmissable monument in the city of the counts: the church of Saint-Volusien.

The public let themselves be enchanted and charmed by music evoking witches, magicians and ghosts, performed by some sixty musicians under the no doubt magic wand of Mikaël Celma.

The opportunity to let yourself be carried away in the imagination, for a moment that will undoubtedly be remembered.

A novelty for this new season, among all the musicians about fifteen young people from the music school, the youngest of whom is 13, have joined the orchestra. This was their very first concert. And according to the conductor, “we have integrated two key symphonic pieces of romantic music that we have acquired: the sorcerer’s apprentice by Paul Dukas and the macabre dance by Camille Saint-Saëns. This makes it possible to introduce this repertoire to young people and make them work on orchestral features that can be presented to competitions to integrate professional orchestras”, before adding: “On the other hand it is interesting to see a mix of generations among the musicians because it goes from 13 to 70 years”.
