The wait is over. Starz has announced the expected date of the debut on the other side of the pond, while in Spain we will enjoy it just 24 hours after the hand of Movistar +.

We are still separated by a few months from the premiere of the season 6 of Outlander, but we already have one exact release date to mark on the 2022 calendar. The one chosen to announce the news has been Diana Galbaldon herself, the author of the fantasy literary saga of which the series of the series starring Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe is an adaptation. It has done during the presentation of the ninth book of the saga, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, which just went on sale.

Take note of the chosen date: The new installment will be released on March 6, 2022 on Starz, the original chain of the series and responsible for its broadcast in the United States, while in Spain we will see it from the hand of Movistar +, which usually premieres it a day after its debut on the other side of the pond.

The long-awaited news has been accompanied by a new official image of season 6, starring its main cast: Sophie Skelton, Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Richard Rankin, and John Bell.

According to Starz, the sixth season of Outlander you will see “Claire and Jamie’s continued struggle to protect those they love, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of colonial America. Making a home in the New World is by no means an easy task, especially in the wild North Carolina countryside and even more so during a period of dramatic political upheaval. “

The Frasers live to keep the peace and prosper in a society that, as Claire well knows, is unknowingly marching toward Revolution. Against this backdrop, heralding the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie have built a house together on Fraser Hill.

They now have a home and must defend it, but not only from outside forces, but from the growing struggle and conflict of the community in their care. For them and their family, the word ‘home’ is much more than where they live. It is where you are laying the foundation for the rest of your life. Thus, the sixth season will explore what happens when there is disharmony and division between the inhabitants of the home you have created and when you become an outsider, marginalized and rejected, in your own home.

About the sixth season you also have to know that it will not start with a time jump, but will pick up the events right where the fifth installment left it: Claire has escaped from a violent encounter with Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy) and has returned to the Cerro with Jamie to keep building the best life for your family.

In addition, the sixth installment will feature important new additions that will mark the new episodes: the Christie Family, some newcomers to the Fraser Hill with whom they must deal and whose head of the family is no stranger to Jamie, but someone with whom he has already crashed earlier during their common past on Ardsmuir. They are Tom (Mark Lewis Jones) and his two sons, Allan (Alexander Vlahos) and Malva (Jessica Reynolds). “The audience will quickly discover where all this tension is coming from,” promised showrunner Matthew B. Roberts when announcing the signings.

“They are not your typical villains,” added Balfe. “There are a lot of twists and turns in the story. It’s very destabilizing for Claire.”

That and much more is what awaits the Frasers in a future full of twists whose end is not even on the horizon. For now, Starz has already announced the renewal of Outlander for a seventh season.
