‘Outlander’ will come to an end with season 8, but they give the green light to a prequel series

‘Blood of My Blood’ will be the fiction that will follow the love story of the parents of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

Everything has to come to an end, but Outlander fans didn’t expect it to come so soon. Starz has announced the renewal of the series starring Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan for an eighth and final season. Indeed, season 8 will be the one that puts the finishing touch to the love story of Jamie and Claire.

But it’s not all bad news. They have also given the green light to Outlander: Blood of my Blood, the prequel series starring Ellen Mackenzie and Brian Fraser, Jamie’s parents. Starz has announced the end of the series through a video with the cast of the series thanking the fans that all this was possible:

The seventh season does not yet have a premiere date, but we do know that it will at some point in this summer 2023:

Outlander: Blood of My Blood is, at its core, a love story. It will explore the lengths one person will go to find love in an age when love is considered a luxury and when marriages are strategically made often for political or financial ends. The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser’s promise to marry Claire and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognize.

The news about this new project began to come to light in the summer of 2021 and the chain confirmed that it was in development in August 2022. The prequel series is based on the novel of the same name by Diana Gabaldon starring Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. Roberts will serve as creator and executive producer. The cast has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to be announced very soon.
