On September 11, at the initiative of the departmental council to revive music schools, that of the municipality of Pont-du-Casse, directed by Sylvie Massalaz, organized a concert which also marked its return to school.
The Pont-du-Casse music school offers initiation or advanced training in four instruments: the piano (40 students registered for this 2021/2022 season), the guitar (26 students), the drums and the flute. Thanks to a partnership with the Agen conservatory, children and adolescents who enroll in this school can follow (at the same preferential rate) the conservatory courses for advanced training or access to other instruments.
90 students enrolled all instruments combined
The four teachers attached to the music school welcome their students from Monday to Friday (after school) and Wednesday all day. Instrumental lessons are generally individual and last around 30 minutes. Collective musical training courses (solfège) at several levels are also provided. Note that a “musical garden” is offered to toddlers who cannot yet practice an instrument (nursery school level).
Several shows every year
Each year, the music school puts on shows which aim to motivate the students in their practice: at Christmas, around the month of May (piano concert) and at the end of June for the big end-of-year show. In collaboration with the media library, the music school embellishes reading sessions called “reading in white and black”. The school also participates in many municipal events. The adult choir, after almost two years of hiatus, will restart. The health pass will be compulsory but it will then be possible to sing without a mask.
