Rape accusations against PPDA: several women denounce the sexual violence suffered

the essential
This Tuesday, November 9 in Liberation, 8 women testify to the sexual violence they allegedly suffered from journalist Patrick Poivre d’Arvor. Seven of them do so with their faces uncovered.

After the preliminary investigation against Patrick Poivre d’Arvor was closed without follow-up, 8 women agreed to testify in Release. 7 of them do so with their faces uncovered. As a reminder, at the beginning of 2021, several women had filed complaints for “rape”, “sexual harassment” or “sexual assault” against the journalist and former presenter of TF1. The Nanterre prosecutor’s office, however, closed the preliminary investigation after five months of investigations. Justice considered that these offenses were not sufficiently characterized or prescribed.

“Patrick jumps on me”

“These women tell stories that arose with PPDA, the facts of which could fall under legal qualifications of rape, sexual assault or harassment,” reports Release. Stéphanie Khayat, a 51-year-old journalist, claims to have suffered two rapes in the journalist’s office in 1994 and 1997. “I do not hear him approach. He suddenly turns me around in front of him, forcing me to bend down. and shoves his cock in my mouth, “she says.

“I spend my time fleeing PPDA. As soon as I see him in a corridor, I turn around”, testifies for her part Cécile Thimoreau, ex-reporter at TF1, who claims to have suffered a sexual assault at PPDA in the years 90. Emmanuelle Dancourt, also a journalist, recounts the harassment she allegedly suffered: “PPDA has not given up. A year of harassment, slobbering SMS, late calls and sticky voice messages”.

Another testimony, that of Cécile Timoreau, medical-social professional, who spent fourteen years at TF1, and who remembers a dinner during which she had to flee. “In the hallway leading to his entrance, Patrick jumps on me. It was quick and begging. ‘Please, I need it’. I have his hands all over the place. I am struggling.”

“He tries to kiss me, he undoes his belt and pulls down his pants”

Muriel Reuse, former vice-president of a subsidiary of the TF1 group, claims to have also been the subject of an attempted sexual assault. “I don’t have time to react that he’s already in front of me, he tries to kiss me, he undoes his belt and pulls down his pants.” Aude Darlet, an airline employee, assures her that she was the victim of an assault in the PPDA office in 2002, which had invited her to attend the 8pm. “A journalist friend at the time told me shortly after that everyone knew, that it was a well-established process where authors, students, journalists, all kinds of women were invited to the JT before moving on to his office. If everyone knew, why was it going on? “

A new twist?

According to Release, the case could experience a new twist. Florence Porcel could indeed file a new complaint for rape with constitution of civil party. She denounces a rape which would have occurred in 2009 – therefore not prescribed, and which the prosecution judged that it was “insufficiently characterized”.

Asked by our colleagues, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor recalled that a court decision had been given and “was favorable” to him.
