After his sudden death, Sushant’s father KK Singh had filed a case of abetment to suicide against Riya. He was also charged with money laundering and other charges. He was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
Riya had to go to jail in September 2020
Investigating officers questioned Riya and her brother Shobhik Chakraborty several times. In September, Riya was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for allegedly buying drugs.
Riya spent a month in a Mumbai jail before being released on bail. Riya told her through social media how much she loved Sushant. Riya started staying away from social media after Sushant’s death. Earlier this year, Riya was spotted walking out of the house in connection with work.
