The adaptation of the famous fantasy saga will have season 2 and will probably premiere new episodes on Amazon Prime Video in 2022.

The ambitious production of Amazon Prime Video The Wheel of Time It has turned out to be one of the great surprises of 2021 after its premiere last November. Adaptation of the eponymous fantasy saga written in 14 novels by the author Robert Jordan -finished by Brandon Sanderson after his death-, the fiction was conceived as a project as ambitious as it was grandiose for Amazon Studios, which has finally managed to complete its mission of hand of Rafe Judkins and become the most successful new series on the streaming platform in the year we left behind.

Although it already had a legion of fans around the world who were fans of Jordan’s story long before its adaptation, the Amazon series has managed to surprise them too. Judkins has not hesitated to introduce some changes that will help the transition to audiovisual and, in the same way, he has also dared to change some details about the stories of different characters.

Now the first season of The Wheel of Time is now in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video, and after an intense final episode in which Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) faced the Dark One for the first time, Moiraine was pulled from the One Power and a fleet of ships full of channelers recently arrived in the coast, the characters have great challenges to face in the new episodes.

Fortunately, the second season of The Wheel of Time It is more than confirmed, although the streaming platform has not yet announced what dates it is considering for its potential premiere. Yes indeed, Since filming has been going on for some time, it is more than likely that we will be able to continue the adventure in 2022.

‘The Wheel of Time’: Release date, cast changes, new characters and everything we know about season 2

About the end of the first installment and the future of the characters spoke the ‘showrunner’ Rafe Judkins in an exclusive interview with the medium CBR on the occasion of the broadcast of the last episode in December and, in addition to analyzing in detail everything that happened in ‘El ojo del mundo’ (1×08) and the weight of the events in the new chapters, ended the fears of the fans about the ogier Loial (Hammed Animashaun), one of the most beloved characters.

According to Judkins, Loial has not died, but will survive the Fal Dara attack and will continue to be a part of Season 2. A detail that fans of Jordan’s work will undoubtedly appreciate, in which the character has a significant role. Of course, although fans can breathe easy for the character, the ‘showrunner’ has done a warning when confirming Loial’s survival: he feels like killing characters.

I can’t wait to kill amazing people that are going to hurt book fans to the bottom of their hearts, but Loial isn’t dead in the season finale.

The attack on Loial wasn’t the only surprising change from the source material that left readers somewhat bewildered after the season finale aired. Also the decision to disassociate Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) from the One Power and to remove references to the Green Man who protected the Eye of the World in the original book.

It’s no surprise, though, that Judkins makes changes to the adaptation, and since he’s made it clear that he intends to take on characters that will hurt readers, it looks like we can expect a lot more changes from the novels in the future. series episodes. We will have to wait for the premiere of season 2 to find out what other surprises the team of The Wheel of Time.
