The prequel series of ‘Game of Thrones’ arrives at HBO Max Spain on August 22.
Game of Thrones It has been characterized mainly by the number of deaths, and some quite violent, that it has harbored during its eight seasons of life and, apparently, The House of the Dragon it will happen to you in this same aspect.
In a recent interview with SensaCine, its co-creator, Ryan J. Condal, explained that this is one more feature of Poniente that we are all used to by now:
‘Game of Thrones’ is a very violent world where unexpected things happen all the time. I think this series explores a lot of a Westeros that we all know pretty well by now. The characters will often face unexpected violence and danger. The great thing about this series and this world is that ultimately you don’t know what’s going to happen around the corner and I think you have to be prepared for anything. And I think the series honors that and has a lot of surprises in store for viewers.
On the other hand, Steve Toussaint, who plays Corlys Velaryon in the series, explains that the violence that will take place in the first season is a mere reflection of the time it is supposed to portray:
There will be enough to reflect the time it is supposed to portray and it portrays a cruel time. So there will be some of it. But I think there’s a lot more political intrigue. Many more interpersonal relationships. But yes, it was a violent time. So there will be some scenes that reflect that time
Corlys Velaryon is about Rhaenys husband (Eve Best), the sister of Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine). A person who, according to the actor himself, will do everything possible so that his family can get closer to the power of the Iron Throne:
Basically, he is a character full of ambition for his family. His wife, known as ‘The Queen That Never Was’, has been overlooked where he is concerned. She feels that she would have made a better monarch than the current holder of the Iron Throne. Viserys, as far as Corlys is concerned, is a good man, but not the right king for the moment. So a lot of this season is about Corly trying to plot to bring him and his family closer to power, either through succession or marriage. So that’s his motivation for most of the season.
The House of the Dragon It is set 200 years before what happened in Game of Thrones, mainly following the story of the young Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock), the Targaryen princess who must face more than one problem regarding the succession of the Iron Throne.
