The Iron Throne stars in the first preview of ‘The House of the Dragon’

The first ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off takes place 200 years before the events narrated in the original series and will be released on HBO Max in 2022.

Two years after the end of Game of Thrones, The coveted Iron Throne returns to star in a series on HBO: The House of the Dragon, the first ‘spin-off’ of the unforgettable fiction set in a universe created by George R.R. Martin in its Song of ice and fire. This is demonstrated by the first preview of the long-awaited title launched by HBO Max in the presentation of its launch in Spain. You can see it on these lines.

Set “200 years before the fall of the throne”As the preview of just over a minute long confirms, the dynasty that then reigned in Westeros was that of the Targaryens, who, in addition to the iconic throne, are the protagonists of the series’ first moving images.

Dreams have not made us kings. Have been the dragons

Based on the work Fire and blood de George R.R. Martin, The house of the dragon will allow us to learn more about the history of House Targaryen, which in Game of Thrones we knew that it was already destroyed, but that for hundreds of years it ruled in the Seven Kingdoms without anyone else being able to face it. Many of the milestones in Targaryen history also made Westeros history and some of them even became legends that we hear about in the original series.

This is the case of what will be reported in this first ‘spin-off’, since the members of the Targaryen clan that appear in it are in the middle of a succession crisis, the one carried out by the family just before the civil war known as Dance of dragons.

In the preview we have seen some of the protagonists of The House of the Dragon, whose main characters will be King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), the King’s first-born daughter; Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), brother of the monarch and rightful heir; Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), the Hand of the King; and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), wife of the Hand and powerful figure in Seven Kingdoms politics.

Also, new signings were recently announced: Wil Johnson as Ser Vaemond Velaryon, younger brother of Coryls Velaryon; John Macmillan as Ser Laenor Velaryon, son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen; Savannah Steyn as Lady Laena Velayron, daughter of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen; and Theo Nate as Ser Laenor Velaryon, third son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen.

The premiere of The House of the Dragon will take place in 2022, while HBO Max arrives in Spain on October 26.
