The Muret Big Band brass will play for a good cause

the essential
Tonight, at 8:30 p.m., the Horizon Pyrénées room will vibrate with jazzy accents; an evening event organized in partnership with the Rotary Club Lamasquère and the Muret Big Band, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.

“A concert with a double vocation”, specifies Véronique Andral, the president of this musical formation founded by her father, the late Pierre Andral. The benefits of the evening will cover two actions, one solidarity accommodation, and the second participate in the development of the “Pierre-Andral” Jazz Academy, which marks a new direction for training.

The roots firmly rooted in musical excellence, benevolence and team spirit of the Muret Big Band are preserved. But the Academy will offer new fields of action such as welcoming new artists in residence, travel outside Occitania, or even abroad. And in a future time, the Academy will play the card of the transmission of knowledge, the opening of rehearsals to young talents to welcome them to the desks. This is a new dimension that Véronique Andral wishes to develop, who has surrounded herself with an office with well-targeted responsibilities.

“For this evening we wanted an eclectic program for the training led by its prestigious conductor Dominique Rieux”, specifies Véronique. The history of the Muret Big Band will be told in music with the program of music by Andrew – Sister, jazz standards, French song and pieces by Gordon Godwin.

The vocal part will be provided by Gead Mulheran.

Muret Big Band concert, tonight at 8:30 p.m. at the Horizon Pyrénées room. Prices: adults €20, students €10, under 12s free.
