Releases if you like video games
Battlestar Galactica – February 28 [SkyShowtime]
The best space science fiction series for many. It was recently available through Prime Video, but now it returns and dresses up for the premiere of SkyShowtime in Spain. A great epic where the future of humanity hangs by a thread that managed to hook millions of viewers for several years. Now, you have a new opportunity to find out why.
Halo: The Series – February 28 [SkyShowtime]
Almost a year after its premiere in the United States, Halo: The series can finally be seen on platforms in Spain. The series has not been the enormous success that an IP of this caliber perhaps deserved, but the most passionate viewers of science fiction can find a program with a good dose of almost video game action to lose themselves in. The Master Chief show has already been revamped.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – February 28 [SkyShowtime]
Another series that has been delayed as there is no Paramount Global video-on-demand platform in Spain, but we finally have it here. Strange New World is the fifth Star Trek series currently airing, and perhaps the closest to Gene Roddenberry’s original work, offering episodic space sci-fi stories with futuristic optimism as a channeling vehicle.
The Mandalorian (Season 3) – March 1 [Disney+]
Our fellow Star Wars fans are climbing the walls waiting for the return of Lucasfilm’s most adorable duo. Following the end of The Book of Boba Fett, viewers will follow the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu in search of the once reclusive bounty hunter’s lost honor. A story is promised where The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies.
Guardians of the night: Heading to the village of blacksmiths – March 2 [Cines]
“After his family is brutally murdered, a kind-hearted boy named Tanjiro Kamado decides to become a Demon Slayer in hopes of turning his younger sister Nezuko into a human.” If you like to watch anime in the cinema, this March 2 you have another opportunity with the premiere of this saga that, like other series of the style and origin, has already been made into a video game.
Shadow and Bone (Season 2) – March 16 [Netflix]
Among so many Netflix cancellations, sometimes we don’t know if this series that we liked so much a couple of years ago was saved from the stake. But yes, Shadow and bone will experience the premiere of its second season this March. If you haven’t seen it yet and you’re a fan of epic fantasy, you may be missing out on one of the best modern references in the genre. Give it a chance as soon as possible.
Superman & Lois (Season 3) – March 16 [HBO Max]
Despite James Gunn’s rise to the leadership of DC Studios with his new plan for Superman, it seems that Superman & Lois, the TheCW series broadcast in Spain through HBO Max, still has a chance to last one or two seasons. The third arrives in the middle of the month with the last son of Krypton and company facing a new threat, this time with Lex Luthor involved.
Shazam! The Fury of the Gods – March 17 [Cines]
The DCEU, or DCU, kicks off a busy 2023 this month with up to four movies scheduled. The first of them is the second of Shazam!, which repeats the leading actor and director, although with a new threat. Humor and action seem guaranteed in this film that continues the story of Billy Watson, with the ability to transform into a superhero by shouting Shazam!
Tetris – March 31 [AppleTV+]
No, this is not a reimagining of the video game we all know as a movie where we have to clean our room, but a drama with hints of intrigue inspired by a true story of the video game commercial Henk Rogers and his discovery of Tetris in 1988 and how it traveled until the Soviet Union in the final years of the Cold War to achieve international distribution.
