The studio developing the Silent Hill 2 remake is “full of love” for the saga and will do “something incredible”, according to the producer – Silent Hill 2: Remake

One of the great news that the final stretch of 2022 left us was the confirmation of the existence of the Silent Hill 2 remakeone of the most important horror games not only of konami, but of the history of the industry in general. Among a sector of Silent Hill 2 fans there are doubts as to whether Bloober Team is the right studio to take on a project of this scale, but those responsible for the franchise are clear that it is. “Bloober Team is incredibly talented at creating environments. You can really feel what James is feeling just by walking through the foggy city. I think they are excellent at creating backgrounds, environments, and atmospheres,” says Okamoto. “Also, they are paying a lot of attention to the combat so that the gameplay is much deeper. I see them as very hardworking people and full of love for Silent Hill“.

The composer of the original perceives “great respect” for the work

Artist Masahito Ito is also “very satisfied with the quality of the city and the atmosphere of Silent Hill 2 that they’re doing” at Bloober Team. “I really get the feeling that they respect the original while making sure to fix things their way,” he says. “When we started working on this remake, we put a lot of demands on the fog motif, and they made sure to render it the way we wanted it to. I wholeheartedly believe that they are doing something amazing“.

Lastly, composer Yamaoka also harps on the idea that the Polish studio really loves the franchise. “As game developers, we can talk about how much we love Silent Hill. And it’s more than just love. They managed to convince Konami

A few weeks ago, the studio itself made it clear that the relationship with Konami was good from the start. The team ensures that his concept captivated the Japanese companyprevailing over the proposals of other developers who also carried out concepts of how they would bring a game as important as Silent Hill 2 to the present:

“Silent Hill 2 is a classic that has shaped the way our studio works in psychological horror. LThe idea of ​​working on this project haunted us for many years., and in 2019 we received an invitation from Konami to participate in the Tokyo Game Show. To our delight, Konami told us to prepare a concept for a remake of the original second installment in exchange for the chance to bring the concept to life.

Clearly, we weren’t the only contenders. Many other studios were vying for this collaboration, but in the end, our concept was the one that stole the heart of Konami. They recognized our commitment and passion for horror, and that alone was a distinguishing point for us.”
