The Tarn cinema community pays tribute to Serge Korber

Jean-Pierre Gardelli, manager of Imagin’Cinémas in Gaillac. Cinema loses a major director and author. Serge Korber has toured with the greatest and has an impressive filmography. My favorite film is perhaps not the best known, it’s “The Man Orchestra”, a very fine comedy where it allows De Funès to renew himself. Besides, De Funès had asked to shoot with him, it’s still a reference. Serge always had several projects in progress, he looked ahead, he was really creative. He was also very faithful in friendship, he remained very close, for example, with Jean-Louis Trintignant, on whom he wrote a book, with Michel Legrand until his death, with Claude Lemesle, who was a genius lyricist . It was also at his house that I had met him. Serge wrote screenplays, was a consultant, he never stopped. He was also very close to our region, which is that of Marie Claire, his wife. When he lived in Brens, he liked to do his shopping in Gaillac, on the market, to linger on a terrace. He has always remained approachable, discreet and friendly. He never had the somewhat haughty attitudes that are sometimes attributed to movie people.”

Claude Martin, director of the Oeillades film festival in Albi. “A lovely guy with a big heart who was always the first to give the festival a helping hand in a selfless way. He had a great knowledge of cinema and the craft of director.”
