This was the Resident Evil 7 that was canceled with Leon as the protagonist visiting a city inspired by Venice – Resident Evil 7

Sometimes we never stop to think about the fine line that exists between canceled games and those that are finally launched on the market. In this case, Resident Evil 7 was going to be very different, because they also thought about game-as-a-service elements, but in the end they decided to change everything. However, now there are images of a discarded project that put the Leon as protagonist.

if we go to Dusk Golem’s Twittera regular Resident Evil leaker, we see how he has posted a Resident Evil 7 concept art. It is a discarded version of the title, and it is that it would have been played in a very similar way to Resident Evil 6, a work highly criticized among fans of the saga. As can be seen in the image, the protagonist was Leon, but he was accompanied by Sherry in a fictional Europe.

Specifically, the city we are talking about is inspired by Venice and some of the peculiarities of this work was that we were going to have Moments of “Decision” where time slowed down and we would have a short period of time to make the corresponding choice (inspiration from Telltale Games). At the end of 2012 there was a demo whose duration ranged between 30 and 60 minutes, but finally everything was cancelled.

Behind this anecdote the rest has been history, and never better said because Resident Evil 7 is the best-selling game in the saga. It should also be noted that other titles as successful in the saga as Resident Evil 2 and 3 have sold really well. If you want to know how we received this title in the writing of 3DJuegos, we invite you to take a look at the analysis of Resident Evil 7, carried out by Álvaro Castellano.
