The School of Arts welcomes, this Saturday, at 9 p.m., the Quartet Descarga with exceptional musicians: Rolando Luna (piano); Thibaud Soulas (double bass); Ruy Adrian Lopez-Nussa (drums) and Barbaro Crespo (percussion).
Rolando Luna arrives quite late at the piano, at the age of 15. He moved from salsa groups to classical music, then to traditional music, without forgetting jazz where he developed a very personal universe. He is also an arranger and producer and is regularly invited by internationally renowned artists in Cuba, Brazil, Russia or France. Double bass player Thibaud Soulas, who collaborates with many musicians from the Toulouse region, has been at the origin, since 2020, of Tournan’s musical recreations. He performs regularly in the Guy-Lafitte auditorium. For Ruy Adrian Lopez-Nussa, his playing and his music draw energy and creativity from the roots of the Afro-Cuban tradition as much as from contemporary jazz. Finally, Barbaro Yordany Crespo-Richard, alias Machito, born in Havana. He has participated in numerous festivals, collaborated with Jojani García in “Danzas Tradicionales de Cuba”, performed in theaters, on television and in popular events in Havana. Machito had the opportunity to perform at private “Osain del Monte” concerts for Madonna, the Rolling Stones and Will Smith.
