(AFP) – American comedian Bob Saget, best known for his role in the 1980s-90s sitcom “La Fête à la maison”, was found dead in a hotel room in Florida, his family announced on Sunday.
“Devastated, we confirm that our dear Bob is dead today,” the actor’s family announced in a statement released by People magazine. “He was everything to us and we want to tell you how much he loved his fans, playing in public and bringing people from all walks of life together through laughter.”
Bob Saget, often referred to as “America’s daddy,” was found unconscious in a room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida, the Orange County sheriff’s office said.
The circumstances of death remain unclear. “No sign of crime or drug use” was found, police said.
The comedian was touring the country and, hours before the news of his death was announced, tweeted about his enjoyment of performing his show in Jacksonville.

Bob Saget, 65, rose to fame playing Danny Tanner, a widowed father of three daughters, whose twins played by sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, in the soap opera House Party.
