A beautiful birthday was celebrated, with a few months of delay, Saturday November 13, in the village hall, that of a baby born in the same place on March 7, 1991: Tarn and Garock, springboard of current music for thirty years. And for three decades, a policy and local actions led by Adda 82, now Tarn-et-Garonne Arts and Culture (TGAC) to discover, promote and bring this music closer to local populations.
Sylvia Pinel, MP, present on stage at the opening of the evening, with Marie-Claude Nègre, president of the community of communes, and the mayor Stéphane Thuyères, who introduced the event, explains: “It is essential to bringing culture to small towns, villages far from cultural centers. This is an area that I consider important, the cultural sector in general, and in priority the local cultural actors and the actions they lead. , it is also the recovery after a long break, a moment of meetings, of pleasure. “
Tarn and Garock, it’s over; in any case, in its current form of a springboard. But the adventure continues for musicians with Daad Music, a structure created several years ago and which aims to better support projects: two or three groups will be selected each year, which will benefit from various professional tools to broaden their skills, like artist residencies, studio work – Verdun-sur-Garonne has an excellent recording studio – legal initiation, communication, etc. A call for projects has already been launched for musicians who want to go further.
In the meantime, more than 150 spectators came to the party to listen, vibrate, move, with the four groups present, mixing emerging artists and former winners who have become professionals: Well Inc, Univers-L, Ecchymose Rose and Bazar Bellamy.
Crossing generations on stage as in the public, less numerous than for other editions in the same place – Covid and sanitary pass have been there – but warm and happy to share a long convivial moment.
Jean-Luc Garcia, in charge of current music at TGAC, is satisfied that this evening, scheduled for March, has finally been able to take place: “It is an excellent thing that musicians were able to confront the public again, especially those who Our mission is to support projects around current music and to support local artists. And to allow them to go on stage, to play live. ” Of which act.
