“We are very disappointed.” Pixar workers talk about the premiere of ‘Red’ on Disney + and not in theaters

The animation studio’s new project becomes his third film to go directly to the streaming platform of the House of Mickey Mouse. The film will be available on March 11.

The first was Soul and then it was the turn of Luca. Now, some of the Pixar workers have given their opinion on this Disney decision. Although some of them understand it, others have not liked it.

“It’s safe to say that we are extremely disappointed.”, says an employee of the study in Insider. As it continues:

Until today, we all thought that ‘Red’ would be our return to the big screen, and everyone in the studio was very excited about it going with this particular movie. It has been quite a blow

Another of the Pixar workers has said that it has been a “shock” know Disney’s decision. “It sucks, but I get it”, Add. These last words have to do with the current situation due to the variant of the coronavirus known as Omicron, which has greatly increased infections. “With the Omicron contagions so high, I have not heard anyone say that the decision to go to ‘streaming’ is the wrong one”, emphasizes another worker.

Despite the division of opinions, the truth is that the premiere of Pixar films on Disney + has been beneficial for the streaming platform. The aforementioned medium affirms that these films have turned out to be “a great advantage for Disney + in their effort to get more subscribers and keep existing ones”.

After Red, the next Pixar movie on the release schedule is Lightyear, the story of the man who inspired the famous toy Buzz Lightyear of the saga Toy Story. Chris Evans is the one who lends his voice to the protagonist in the film. For now, plans are to release this project in theaters this summer. Will Disney change strategy in the coming months?
