When Milkha Singh called Farhan Akhtar in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ a ‘ditto copy’ of himself
Actor Farhan Akhtar has stunned the audience from time to time with his impeccable acting skills and unconventional roles. Talking about his films, he is still remembered for the hit sports drama ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ where he essayed the role of athlete Milkha Singh.
Recalling how Farhan nailed his character in the film, the Padma-Shri recipient Milkha Singh once told the Economic Times, “When ‘Bhaag Mikha Bhaag’ was released, no matter where I went — Australia, England or Canada, people around the world used to say Farhan is Milkha Singh’s ditto copy. I even went to see Farhan train during the film’s making and saw him run 100 meters in 11 seconds! He was not a professional athlete, but he trained hard to become one.”
Hoping to see more collaboration between Farhan and filmmaker Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, the ‘Flying Sikh’ also added that ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was the first film he watched since the 1960s.
