The actress and the director worked together on ‘Titanic’, but after filming they began to make comments that suggested a bad relationship.
Kate Winslet and James Cameron have reteamed together on Avatar: The Sense of Water after titanic, but there was a time when it seemed that they did not even want to see themselves in painting. In 1997, when the film about the sinking of the ocean liner was released, the actress declared the following: “You would have to pay me a lot of money to work with Jim again”.
Winslet later stated, in rolling stones, that his words had been misinterpreted. However, when actress and director met again in 2012 for the revival of titanic in 3D, the interpreter stated that the filmmaker “lost his temper” during the filming of the film, but that he did it “for very good reasons”. In addition, Cameron nicknamed the actress “Kate-Weighs-a-Lot” (in Spanish: “Kate weighs a lot”). The filmmaker even pointed out that it was the actress’s good relationship with her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio that got her through filming.
“Enough of ‘streaming'”: James Cameron has shown with ‘Avatar 2’ that the cinema is not dead (but the film will come to Disney + at some point)
Although the filming of titanic did not seem to be a tasteful dish for Winslet, the actress has spoken during the promotion of Avatar: The Sense of Water about how different it has been to put yourself back under the director’s orders now that the years have passed. “You can’t compare them. The two movies are very different”count to ew. “Literally the only thing they have in common is that there’s water in both, but the water is there for different reasons, it behaves in totally different ways. They’re very different experiences.”
winslet did titanic very young -he turned 21 during filming- and now, at 47, he lives things differently:
Jim, as a director, as a character, we’re different, older, hopefully we’ve learned a lot in terms of how to tell stories and be creative collaborators and contributors.
Cameron himself joked about the taunts that were launched in the past during his time on the red carpet at the Golden Globes. “I feel like I needed it from a therapeutic standpoint. We both needed the catharsis”.
Apparently, the problems between the two were not as big as they seemed. Winslet and Cameron did try to work together in the past. “I feel like he’s always communicated with me: ‘Are you busy right now? How are you doing? I might have something,” Winslet recalls. “In 2014 he told me: ‘I’m going to make you big and blue’.
Winslet brings to life Ronal in Avatar: The Sense of Water. She is one of the two leaders of the aquatic tribe. Metkayina. As it happened with titanicthe sequel to Avatar It is also being a success. The film has already grossed over a billion dollars and is approaching two billion dollars.
